The starter is very much like most other bikes out there. Pretty sure it is a Japanese product. If your dealer tech knows his stuff he can likely fix it with parts from a Japanese OEM. ....or even install a complete starter. Frequently the only difference is in the end cap that has the mounting tabs. Swap that part to the new starter and you are golden.

Not sure if it helps... I had similar issue with misfire at low rpm that would clear, or at least wasn't that noticeable at higher rpm.
Turned out to be a faulty coil pack sparking to the cylinder head instead of via the spark plug, at idle you can pull them out one at a time and see which one you can remove without the engine note changing.
