I have just bought an 2004 F4 SR which needs some work to return it to it's former glory.

The carbon fibre side tank covers and tank panels on the bike are gloss finish, and I believe that the bike came with a matt finish originally.

Anyone with an SR able to confirm that please?

MV Agusta never made the "tank panels" for any version of the 2000 - 2009 F4 in carbon fibre.
They only made various painted plastic versions.
If your SR has a carbon tank panel - it's an aftermarket part.

I think the first 30 x F4 Oro bikes that were produced and given away to selected celebrities to promote the launch of the brand came with carbon tank fill in panels.. I’m not sure about the remainder that were sold to the general public..

I used to have all the part numbers from MV Special Parts with the carbon components available.. These were made by Carbon Dream for the early bikes.. I'm sure I still have this print out list somewhere, but finding it would be like finding a needle in a haystack..
