Maybe just a higher mount?
Glad you had fun. :)

There were a few MVs at my track day at Road America this Monday

That's a very cool track.
Mike you need to rev the bike out a lot more, you're short shifting far too much.
Have faith, it's a good tool.

donsy,
100% right..
it felt to me like it didnt have much power past that point..
ill try to let it go longer.. i did do that 1 lap and hit the rev limiter.

is the factory setting for the reve limiter at the right place?
if so ill try to remember where it is and bring the RPM up close to that point before shifting.
I know im def shifting too soon.. for some reason, to me it seemed like it stopped pulling after 11k

i could only get into 4th gear on my gsxr before i hit the break markers.

Yeah you can see the rpm range, you're a way from the redline and the limiter light is not coming on yet.
Common mistake is to not open the throttle all the way, you might think you do though. So make sure you have got it full open, you'll be surprised.
If it's full open and bikes not pulling hard, then maybe a mapping problem or setting is not ideal ?
