For those that have been asking about the datalogger, here are a couple of in progress pics..

I have made it as small as possible, the aluminium case measures 63mm x 60mm x 30mm high and will fit nicely in front of the ecu on an F4.

It plugs directly into the 3 pin ecu diagnostic connector.

There are several modes it can be set to run in.

1: Logging mode - all ecu data, 2 x AFR inputs (sensors required), 2 x external analog inputs, any or all of them can be selected.

2: Base setup mode - displays TPS/RPM plus 1 other choice such as AFR
or engine Temp etc.

3: Actuator tests - Any or all tests can be selected and run.

4: ECU Fault codes are displayed in the log and can be set to clear automatically.

Anything else that can be added in let me know.....

Log file names are produced automatically and are csv files.
The logger will start as soon as the engine/afr is up to temp and reset when the ignition is switched off. As soon as the ignition is on again it will start another cycle of logging using the next filename.

TimeMs/RPM/TPS are always logged.
3 channels + afr such as TimeMS,RPM,TPS,AFR1,AFR2,Nuetral can be logged about 33 times per second.

As for log time, 1hr of logging ALL data is about 2.5mb, you can use a maximun card size of 4gb so thats about 1600 hours of log time !

Will work on any 16m ecu

Cheers

Hi Resom,

It is basically built, just waiting for the case which I will them have to CNC mill and a couple of power components left to fit as soon as they arrive.

Then some final testing on my own bike.
I would hope to have it finished in the next 2-3 weeks.

Cost wise I guess it depends how many I build.
Initially it was just for myself as I wanted something more practical for logging than strapping a laptop to my tank - a couple of others have expressed am interest already.

Cheers

Maybe at some point for the later 5SM ecu on the MV but not the microtec.
I would have thought the they would have come with data logging software already ?

Gets a tad warm above the exhausts, best to fit some heat shield tape I think.
Apart from that, it works great....

The pic below on the bike shows the error message that is displayed if the card is missing or corrupt -
that way you won't ride off without the card inserted !

The 4 wires on the right are for 2x afr sensors and 2x additional 5v sensors.
The red goes to +12v via an inline fuse.
The black cable connects to the ecu connector.

Cheers

You`re a Genius, let me know how to get my grubby little hands on one when they`re ready and will it work on the Brutales with the same ECU ?

Hi,

I, and others I'm sure, would definitely like to know more! Is this available to others yet? What inputs are logged? Will it work on an iPhone? Cost? Etc, etc.

I have an 2007 F4 with 'issues', this might really help me sort it out.

Thanks,

Ian

@Ianashdown: This is for the 16M ECU. Your 2007 F4 should have a 5SM ECU.

Yes. Merc07 has done a ton of work on the 16M ECU (1.6M) and he's the guy to go to for help there.

He'll correct me if I am wrong, but his magic doesn't apply to the 5SM.

Sorry, yes, correct 16m ecu only.

I do all this in my spare time which normally ends up being the early hours of the morning so it takes some time.
I know nothing about iphones, but then I knew nothing about android or bluetooth before this...

Do you ?? Maybe you can help ?

I need to make some minor changes to the circuit board and get some more made up before I can let any go.

All ecu sensors can be logged as well as up to 4 analog inputs.
I use 2 of them for afr sensors for tuning the fuel maps...
