I've got a 2011 1090R and have noticed that occasionally when I've stopped and put the bike in neutral (ie, green light comes on), I'll let out the clutch and it's still in gear.

A couple of times this has resulted in a stalled engine - because now I always keep the front brake on until I'm sure it's in neutral, but it's pretty annoying.

I noticed that even though the bike is still in gear, if you pull the clutch in quickly, it will slip into neutral by itself. It seems to happen when changing from 1st to neutral, rather than from 2nd down to neutral.

This is pretty dangerous behaviour, in my opinion, especially considering that the engine still has enough power at idle to move off - into the back of another car, or across an intersection - if you're not careful.

Anyone else noticed this?

That's not normal, I can sit here and tell you what to look for or how to fix it mate, but it's a new bike and you should take it back to the dealer ASAP.

BTW. Welcome to the forum, let's hope you get sorted soon.

It's going back to Peter Stevens for its second service on 6th March - I'll tell them to check it out then.

My 1078 did the same thing and ended up on it`s side. Has done it once since ,I just cover the front brake when starting etc and it was under warranty but the symptom could not be duplicated at the dealers as often is the case.
