Just picked up a new 2013 1090 RR yesterday and noticed that the clutch engagement point on the lever was wayy on the far side -- meaning, to start off from a stand still the lever needs to be released to 80-90% of the travel before the clutch engages..
I kept adjusting the knob to reduce the lever reach, but even at it's closest position(to the bar) it's still an awkward engagement; there is no room to feather the clutch.. I dont so much mind a hair trigger clutch, but i certainly dont like a hair trigger with a lot of dead travel before the trigger goes BANG.
I've never had a bike with a slipper clutch, so i wasnt sure if their engagement points were tighter -- i.e very little room/clamping for feathering the clutch... this also makes upshifts less smooth(for me at least).... I've never had any issues with working a cluch -- even after 2 dry clutch ducatis(2v air and 4v testatretta) -- and it's kinda distracting from the joy of riding it(but it's still a fakkkking blast!!)
I went back to the dealer to make some adjustments(worthless "adjustable" rear sets are still too short for me knees to shift gears while hugging the tank) -- and when i mentioned the clutch lever the tech pulled the lever off to see if there was any way to remove any slack(or whatever other adjustments he could find) and there wasnt anything he can do..
Does anyone else have this issue or know of a way to adjust the engagement point of the clutch itself via the lever??
THanks!
