1078 Brutale 08 and 1078 F4 08 parts change advice?

Hi everybody, been on here a while but looking to pick someones brains on part differrences between a brutale spec 1078 and an F4 spec 1078. Mainly to transplant the brutale motor to an F4.
I noticed so far the brutale uses differrent oil filter head and seperate oil cooler rad, differrent exhaust header (to fit arouund cooler rad?) Smaller dia throttle bodies (same as 312 1000?) 2 extea teeth on rear sprocket and a detuned map in ecu.
Planning to transplant into my 750 F4, possibbly using original 750 twin rads/hoses and oil cooler unit onto 1078 motor, complete 1078 loom ecu injectors stick coils etc.
Then hoping to get a f4rr 1078 ecu map to flash ecu to give full power to f4 spec.
If anyone has allready done this conversion or knows of hardware differrences (Donsy or other gurus?) I got a complete brutale :f4: as salvage to use all donor parts from. Any constructive advice or tips welcome!

Thanks in anticipation

Jon

So let me get this right, you want to install a B4 1078 motor into a F4 750.
Speak to this guy, clever bloke - http://www.mvagusta.net/forum/member.php?u=25

But, in short, soooo many things to change, you need F4 wiring harness and ECU etc.... or do you want to use the B4 loom and all electricals ?
Hi Donsy, thanks for reply!
I planned on using all brutale loom/ecu etc and remap ecu to f4rr spec. Using as much of the parts i allready have from both. I reckon need the differrent headers but looking at various pics i think the f4 1000 312 and the f4 1078 headers are thee same?
Not sure about the f4 1078 throttle bodies? Will check your link though, thanks

Jon
Jon, a word of warning before you get too far into this project. UK insurance companies hate modified motorcycles, a couple of guys in the UK have done similar engine transplants and then found the vast majority of brokers do not want to know. I would make some enquiries as to if they would quote you and how much they want to screw you over.

Best of luck with it, certainly HB is very knowledgeable and there are some others here who have done motor swaps me included.

Liston to Jimbo, him knows shit.
And on that note, doesn't matter which throttle bodies you use, and yes the headers will work, you will need a good tuning, are u planning on using another ECU ?
Valid point on insurance, i will look into it although all bikes will be on one policy. Was planning to use stock ecu just upload the f4r 1078 map from an '08 era bike will have a chst with Merc07 as we traded a few eprom maps for the earlier ones, he may have one. I know it is 'de tuned' for the brutale and the 1000cc smaller diameter throttle bodies further aide taming the lion a little so i have read.....
How do you manage to upload maps to these ECU's Jon ?
Gotta check as my current 02 ecu uses eprom which i can flash different maps to eprom with eprom writer on pc. Done a few swaps with Adam (Merc07) and used his software on early ecu.
Not sure about later model ecu yet though (not had one before), but am guessing with a flash utility you can download to ecu directly as i donth think later ones use a plug in eprom chip.I have done same on triumph fuel injection ecu (sagem) , similar to downloading new maps into a power commander for differrent exhaust systems/tune. If you have any info on later ecu tuning i plan to search forums this weekend on this site (the holy grail for MV fetishes lol)

Ah, okay Jon, sorry I thought you already had all the gear together.
So to get you started, I know there might be a guy in the UK and one in the USA that can access the later ECU's, other than them, you have no chance of getting into them to redo ignition or fuelling, both of which you will need access to.
Speak to Adam, he'll fill you in in more detail.
The easiest way would be to get a Microtec from Chris at X-Bikes and then all is accessible etc.

Good luck if you do decide to go through with it.

Cheers Donsy!
At first glance the two seem allmost interchangeable, with only subtle parts which are differrent.
With plenty of enthusiasm it can be done, but the whole idea could be scuppered by the insurance company as advised, so before i do anything that will be next check. No point in doing all the work then finding they wont insure it! It has been interesting though finding out, just hope it has not been a waste of everybodys time asking. Will look into the ecu issues as well.
If all else fails, i will rebuild the brutale as a stable mate for my F4, After all the only thing better than having an MV is .... having two! Lol
Thanks again i will let you know how i get on ...
Regards
