 On the offical MV web site the tire specs are as follows. My question why do some guys have a 55 series on rear of 06?? And why couldn't you run a 50 series on rear like someone had asked on another topic earlier? According to specs 06 F4 it came with a 50 series rear?

Availability

Virtually all high performance street tires are 190/50. My ZX10 takes a 190/55. So when I replaced the rear tire, I only had one choice which was the Dragon Supercorsa Pro. I know a lot of owners used the more common 190/50 in order to get the tire brand they were comfortable with and so they didn't run the factory spec size.

You could run either size on the MV and you probably wouldn't notice any difference. The difference in ride height is 10mm = (.55 * 190mm) - (.50 * 190mm). Personally I didn't want to change the geometry of my bike and since I liked the Pirelli anyway I went with the factory spec.

My guess is that when someone changes tire spec, its to get a particular tire which isn't available in the OEM size.

I don't know! call it tyre development/progress if you want, or maybe Pirelli gave them 190/55 tyres cheap? but I know the 1000R with the 190/55 is not as sweet a handling bike as my 1000S was with a 190/50, the main differences/dislikes are,

It wants to stand up if I brake it into corners--just makes it feel not as smooth.

If I do the same thing around the same roundabout i.e give it a fistfull when cranked over, the R with 190/55 suffers I think tyre distortion and the rear moves outwards, I'm not saying slides, I think the tyre "walks" my S with a 190/50 NEVER EVER did that.

Now, both bikes have/had Maxton suspension, and the same rear shock, I have lifted the rear and dropped the front and IT STILL wants to stand up if trail braked into a corner, I will swap back tp 190/50 before this years "season" begins.................. :) :)

Mike, are they still the stock Supercosra's or have you replaced them with the proper race pro? Not sure if the PP 2CT 190/55 is available yet over there (we don't have any of them here yet but they are due to arrive shortly) but maybe you could experiment a little more before going back.
