I am waiting on all the parts to come in before I do everything, but what I have on my list to do myself is as follows:

Spark plugs-cr9e
Oil filter- MV
Oil- Motorex Power Synthetic 4T 10W60
Air filter-BMC race
Coolant- engine ice

How do y'all feel with my choices? Should I have gone with iridium plugs?

Also, my tools do not exist, so if someone would be willing to be a sweetheart and give me a list of the types of tools that I need to do all this I would appreciate it!

Cheers!

I would put Iridiums in,they last for 100,000kms.One less item to worry about.They are worth the extra money.:)

Change all the fuses as well mate, nothing worse than the 40 Amp fuse going when you are miles from home on a Sunday!

Agree with Mitchy on the plugs, great bits of kit.

plugs- iridium, yes
oil filter- Purolator PL 14612 the highest rated filter made
I'm not going to start an oil thread, I use Mobil 1 20w50 available at any Mobil station in a emergency:)

if your tool kit didn't come with the long tube plug wrench you will need a 5/8" spark plug socket......

you may need to trim the STUPID gasket in the valve cover......use a long break off point razor knife to trim the gasket

get the cut off pieces out BEFORE pulling the plugs

a list of MV tools;

Is it easier in the final analysis Noel to just remove the valve cover to trim the gasket nice and neatly ..Just a thought.Visions of bits of blade rattling round down there if the blade snaps...

..It's pretty easy to remove...Can always check the valves while in there too.

Joe;
I had a window tint business......Olfa stainless snap blade knives are a godsend....you have to bend them ~15-20* on ~5mm length to break them......sideways:)

Joe, remove the valve cover, NEVER ever again for me! I made the mistake of checking the valve clearances and really wish I hadn't bothered ( they were all good) but I had to take half the bike apart 2 more times before I got that stupid valve cover gasket to seal properly.

Thanks for the info! This is what I have on my to-do list for next week.

Oil: Mobil 1 20w50
Oil filter: either puralator or Mobil whichever one is easiest to fit
Air filter: BMC race
Spark plugs: ngk iridium

Replace fuel filter, fuel line disconnects with metal ones, replace o-ring around fuel assembly

Remove mirrors and add flush mount turn signals
Add crg arrow mirror to left bar end

Replace oem fan blades with muzzy aluminum blades

Flush brakes

Replace oem dzus fasteners with some sweet red ones from *****************

Add HID kit

Add carbon fiber air tubes and rear hugger

I think that's it. The only things I'm worried about are the clutch and hub.

I have thoroughly read the service manual as well as the forums but I would greatly appreciate any tips as I have never done any of these things before.
