Got this little baby for 20 a week back and have applied some elbow grease after inspiration from Oepie. He was in London a couple of weeks ago and we met up for a drink. Brought me some wonderful Belgian beers. What a stand up guy!

Nice work Sheriff. There must be something in the air, 'cause I've been busy today doing the same with the carbs on mine. I'm leaving the main body of the carbs as they are (anodised) but have polished up much of the rest. I've been making some polished alloy inlets for them too, so these will be fitted along with some new stainless fuel pipe and clips. Cam covers are being 'cleaned up' nicely too. Should look quite shiny when I'm done! I'll post up some pics when finished.

Just finished these today. They'll be ready to go on when I've got the second cam cover back on there. I polished up the carb tops/bottoms/trumpets/bolts etc., and fitted stainless clips and hoses, but there's not much I can do about the faded anodising on their bodies (short of having them completely re-done). The little alloy chains you can see hanging from the trumpets are attached to four chrome-plated 'plugs' - bought in my local hardware store for 3.99 each!

The original intake manifolds on this bike were just four pieces of rubber hose which took the full weight of the carbs and which, I noticed, allowed them to 'rise' a little when the throttle was twisted. Not good, for obvious reasons! I made up these alloy tubes in order not only to look better, but to stiffen-up the whole assembly. (the rubbers are now inside these).

Now I thought Dell-Orto SS1s were never original fitment for MVs, but these have 'MV' cast into them (not stamped) - albeit this is on the float bowls. Found some more numbers whilst I've been at the engine: Cam-covers are numbered 11 & 12 (..I've already mentioned the mysterious 0212 stamped into the cylinder head in an earlier post). Cams, on the other hand, have no markings whatever.

I'll post up another pic when it's all back on the bike.

Ha! It's dirty work, but someone's got to do it :smoking:. Maybe a nice little sideline for someone?

Got them on there now anyway, so all they need is setting up. (I don't suppose my neighbours will enjoy me doing it though. The bike's a wee bit noisy to be run in the yard!)

Cam-covers are wire-brushed and not polished 'cause I didn't want to ruin the sandcast effect. You'll notice that these carbs sit straight and the trumpets don't point 'in' as the original 750s carbs/trumpets would have done. I wonder what effect this has on the running? I once read that a 750s rider needed to ride with his knees splayed when giving it the beans in order not to restrict airflow into the trumpets. Hmm! :wtf:.

It'll be a shame to put the fairing back on now :naughty:.
