Seems almost like traction control in a car? Like the bike is hesitating. For me it only happens sometimes. For instance if I'm in 2nd gear revs at 6-7 thousand and I get on it hard it will hesitate and run really rough. If I do it again but the revs are around 4k or lower it doesn't seem to do this. So is this normal? Any fixes? I think I've read new fuel maps but would I need a power commander etc? It's a bit frustrating to have a brand new bike 2012 do this. I haven't turned off TC yet so I will try this but I don't think this is the issue as it doesn't do it in first gear that I've noticed.
Maybe you need to figure out how your bike works man. Where you supplied much info on the electronics when you picked up the bike. You have a 2012 whaaat ? So you didn't know you have traction control when you paid all this money.
I suggest you sit down and read that manual mate, and I'm not trying to be a smart arse, these things are not your average 90's sport bike.
I'm asking here since I would assume you all may have already experienced this. As my sig indicates a 2012 F4R. As I mentioned above I'll be looking at the TC tonight. As I mentioned in my original post it doesn't seem to be working correctly if it's TC because accelerating hard starting from a lower rev range doesn't seem to replicate this issue. So any suggestions from those who've had the newer F4 with TC would be helpful and yes I did know the bike had TC before I purchased it. I've also seen many posts about fueling issues so I assumed it could be related.
TC was set to 1 which I assume is the lowest level. I turned it to zero and am going to go for another ride.
I read through a 4 page thread for a 2010 F4 and it sounds like that year they had a rain mode? I've read my manual again and all I can find is how to turn on sport mode. It doesn't indicate a rain mode or how to disable sport mode.
After I ride with 0 TC I'll try adjusting sport/rain mode but don't want to change more than one thing at a time.
Rain mode is just Sport mode turned off. (The big S just goes away on the dash.)
To toggle sport mode press the starter when the engine is running, the S will flash, press it again and wait for the flashing to stop and it should have toggled.
So as I mentioned I set TC to zero - no change. Still doing the exact same thing. I came back and started playing with the sport mode puzzle. I know the manual and some posts on here indicate to turn on the engine and push the start button. I tried this several times but nothing happened. I shut it off and had the key on with the bike in gear and kept pushing the starter button. Tried holding for a few seconds and also pushing more quickly. At one point a light flashed on my dash orange or red and I heard something going on. The sport mode indicator did not change in any way. No clue what changed since nothing with the indicator changed. I went for a ride still the same issue. I realized I wasn't pushing the button fast enough. With the engine running either in gear or not push the start button fairly quickly 2-3 times and the sport mode S starts to flash. I got it to turn off - still had the same issue. Got it to come back on still the same issue.
Are there different levels or is it simply on/off?
The issue seems to be specifically this - 2nd & 3rd gear at 5500-7000 rpm rolling onto full throttle quickly makes the bike hesitate and run really rough. It doesn't do this if I roll on from 4,000 rpm.
I believe this is the infamous "flat spot" on the power band. I have the same bike however mine honestly isn't as noticeable as yours.
