Hello MV friends

well on 5/7/2013 after work I came home and I found out my MV AGUSTA F4 got stolen. Fortunately my APT garage had CCTV and I can see and found out who took my bike. I call my APT Manager and start watching CCTV. on Monday 5/6/2013 after postman left front door the front door was open and 2 Mexican guy show up and park the van in front of APT and came in to front door. after while they came down to my garage and start looking at my bike tacking photos and look out for other people. I had cover on my bike and had rear wheel lock to steel post . Monday night after work I notice rear wheel cover was off
I was really tired so I didn't really care about why cover was off. after adjust the cover and went home. well on 5/7/2013 I went work 7:40am in the morning and around 11:25am as soon as one of my APT Tenant leave the garage the same mini van show up on Monday come in the garage and park the car next to my motorcycle location. after about 3min the van took off. looking at CCTV the driver is the same guy from Monday and he had one person in passenger when the van came in but on the way out only driver show in CCTV. I made police report on 8:30pm same night and called state farm insurance and next day I call Lojack and made report. well it's been more than 1 week and I don't hear anything from police. I called police station but they don't help much. also they are not nice to answer my questions

I will try to post CCTV video on youtube so I can link the video

The police have a poor record of recovering stolen goods even with videos ....too busy generating income writing traffic tickets. Hope your insurance coverage will replace it.

Ugh that is terrible. Worse is that the police are doing absolutely nothing to help! I second the post about shooting thieves. A lot of things I can overlook in life. But forcing religion down one's throat like a madman, stealing other people's property, rape, murder are things where I think the person who committed them basically have forfeited their right to breathe air. I truly hope for you there is a happy ending to this nightmare.

thanks guys
well my insurance told me I have to wait about 3~4weeks until they finalize
I don't know if I'm going to get new bike because leaving in same APT I don't feel comfortable having new bike because of bad guys. also I don't know I should get 2013 MV F4RR WHITE one or 2013 MV Brutale 1090RR or just buy use Brutale 1090rr. don't know yet and also I don't know how much I'm going to get from insurance.

Question regards Lojack. are they going to give me $5000 if I don't find the bike? how that work? any body know?

please help thank you

Worst feeling in the world. Sorry for the loss.

Were there any unique parts on her? Keep an eye on craigslist and ebay. Lots of times the idiots are dumb enough to part the bike and sell it off using an ebay or craigslist account.

Easy Fix

This is what I recommend (listed in order):

1) Get a digital copy of the video. Don't use your cell phone.
2) Have someone with experience edit the video
3) Remove any reference to "Mexicans" or other ethnicity.
4) Once you have it as a single stream, send the link to other motorcycle forums.
5) Contact the local news channel. It's LA, they love this kind of stuff.
6) You will lose interest from viewers if they see a copy of a copy (cell phone video) and multiple links (more than one video). I realize this requires more work on your end, but it's the most effective way to get the public on your side.

Good luck and keep us in the loop.

That is very good advice. I remember a while back a motorcycle shop had a couple of guys steal some jackets and helmets from them and run out the door. They got the guys face on cameras and put it on the local news and within a week or two had tracked the men down. They couldn't find them in person right away but they found their motorcycles and the police proceeded to impound them. You could see one of the stolen helmet strapped to the back of one of the bikes. I don't know whatever came of it but retribution certainly happened.

Just a suggestion. Once you have given up hope of recovery post the VIN on the bike. If the bike is parted out perhaps someone here might run across part of it and you might be able to at least be able to track down the thieves. Also keep an eye out on ebay for parts. If you come across a seller with a large volume of parts that looks like your bike ask them if they have an engine or a frame and ask for the VIN. They might be that stupid. :)

Hopefully someone will come across the VIN. Very sorry for your loss. My bikes are all old and not interesting to most but I would be absolutely gutted if someone took one of them.

A few other forums that I am on have a section dedicated to a stolen bike registry. Unfortunately for them Japanese bikes are stolen every day. This site with it's niche market could really benefit from a stolen bike registry. I'm going to suggest it in the site suggestions section and see if it gets any traction.

I'm really sorry to hear that. :/

Thanks for letting us know about their deception. Perhaps the members here won't fall for their false promises.

On another note and perhaps something that may your day less horrible. The thread that was started for the Stolen Bike registry has a message from the Administrator.

"I will submit this request to our tech team to add Stolen Bike section within the Registry.

Hi Steve,

Sorry to hear about your bike. As you now know, you shouldn't expect much help from LAPD. It's not their bike. You should pull their chain, however, by writing the head of their vehicle theft division. Explain what happened, how you were treated, and enclose a copy of the videos. Be sure to include dates and name names. Copy the local division commander, the police chief, your city councilman, and the Mayor's office. It won't help with your case, but it may motivate them for the next one.

I'm sure that a lot of people will tell you not to do this because it will only get the police mad at you. This brings me to another point. You said that you may not get another bike because there are too many "bad guys" where you live. These things are at the heart of what is wrong today. Your life's choices shouldn't be dictated by the police or the bad guys. If the police give you problems, keep reporting them. Don't be silent. If there are too many bad guys where you live, MOVE! No one should live their life in fear.

Please give us more details Re LoJack. What do you mean by "the warranty had expired"? As far as I know, Lojack doesn't sell warrantees. Were you supposed to be making monthly service fees? If this is a case of bad faith on their part, report them to the State Insurance Commishioner, and join in what must be an existing class-action law suit. And tell everyone you know about your experience with them.

A few years ago, someone stole one of my son's MX bikes. I made up flyers asking for help with a description of the bike, and the VIN and his phone number on "tear offs"" along the bottom. I posted these in every bike shop and accessory store in the area. Within days, my son got a call from the thief's uncle. He suspected something was wrong before he saw the flyer, took one of the tear offs and matched the VIN number. He called for a family intervention, then called us. On the way to pick up the bike, we called the police. They weren't interested, especially since we were getting the bike back. I responded by telling them that it was alright, I'd take care of it. Long story short, we got the bike that night. Sometime later, the thief had a religious experience. Sometimes Steve, the bad guy needs to be shown that he's not as bad as he thinks. Better for him to be afraid than you.

If you need help with any of this, please let me know.

Bob, it's great to hear from you. Two posts in a week is a rarity from you, but both were well conceived and presented. You should be more prolific in posting. I enjoyed spending time with you at Bub4, and hope to have the chance again next year. Be well my friend. :)
