On my 05 BMW R1200GS I cut out a small section of the pipe and removed the bee hive part of the cat. converter with no ECU mods. Has anyone done this to a MV. Same as a eliminator pipe I guess but free. Or has anyone replaced the mid pipe only and not done any computer work. Thanks.
CAG, My past ones that I have done on other brands have ran better, sounded better and ran cooler, that is why I want to do it. Is this the case with a MV?
Yeah, not worried about horsepower numbers, I just can not stand those things. I tried looking through one once, and could not believe what I saw(nothing) Never had any use for one since then, Its coming out of there, just a matter of time. Thanks
like CAG said scribe some reference marks and saw through the weld. i drilled 7/16" holes around the outer edge and pulled the cat out
use a respirator the dust isn't good for you!
then weld it back up
now i need to open the mufflers and get rid of the Hausmann baffles
lee,
i use an Anschutz 54 super match with a Kenyon trigger and cb longs from CCi
or up close a Unique DES69 with Aguila Colibri 20gr bullets
DO NOT use the Colibris in a long barrel, they WILL stick!
to rid the neighborhood of pests
In regards to the Cat inners - I think most of the baffle that's keeping the sound of the bike road legal happens in the cat. Since replacing mine with a midpipe, and keeping the stock slipons - It's no where near street legal volume.
I did mine as part of a series of mods some time ago, I don't know if it makes the stock set up louder or run cooler cos I changed to Ti slip ons at the same time. I do think it's worth the effort though.
hey you guys, don't pick on cats. A most noble creature.
