I got a quote for 2018 dragster RC for 23,500 OTD and a 2019 dragster for 21,200.

Are these average prices for these bikes?

Keep in mind that the typical profit margin on a motorcycle (all brands) is around 10%.

So if MSRP is $20k, the dealer might make $2000. They aren't charitable organizations, and must make a profit if they will be around to service your bike later on.

They also pay interest on the bike sitting on the floor (called floor plan costs), which can quickly start to eat up any profits. They pay for that bike when it ships to them, financed by a bank (just like the loan on your car).

Typically there will be manufacturer incentives on non-current models and slow movers, which is how you occasionally see really low prices on some bikes.

So if you are hoping to buy that MSRP $20k bike for $15k you are dreaming....unless it is one of those the manufacturer needs to move (old model, undesirable model).

I'm pretty much set on getting the dragster RC, but when trying to put the VIN # into my insurance quote the vin # does not show up. I tried a couple of other dragster bike vin #'s from two other dealers but the vin will not show up either on any insurance quote.

Sometimes the insurance database doesn't find the bike because there aren't many out there.

May I suggest contacting Dairyland Insurance for your bikes....they have always had the best rates for me and their service is terrific. Of course, you're in Florida which has weird laws, so they may not be down there.

I've been using them since the 70's. Very motorcycle friendly, unlike some of the big boys (even though they advertise to you).

Keep in mind how times a day the MV can bring a smile to your face, verses a Honda, or leaving 20k in a money market. That being said, 22% in Itlay is a painful thought.
