I have a new Brutale 800. Just breaking it in. I’ve noticed that when shifting from 1st to 2nd it’s tougher than the other gear shifts. Lower the. 5000Rpm and it’s better. Is this normal? Does anyone else experience this?
On that note, what RPM are people changing gears at generally. Eg. 1st 5000rmp, 2nd ?rpm etc?
Are you using the Quickshifter? If you are, remember it's a quickshifter, not an auto-gearbox. They work better at higher rpm, withbigger throttle openings,
Gearboxes do need bedding / breaking in. After the first hundred miles it will get easier.
I know exactly what you mean.
First 1000 miles I also felt that, but now roughly 2000 miles it buttersmooth. Even from 1st to 2nd gear. Although you need to really push lever up and not softly otherwise it will hit neutral.
Just do this for every gear. My tip: The harder you kick the lever the smoother.
Inbetween 4th/5th is a false neutral aswell. Just so you know.
Very rarely if ever do I use the quickshifter between 1st and 2nd. On occasions, it will hit false neutral between 5th and 6th. Do you have the autoblipper on your bike?
Agree, the more miles on the clock the smoother it becomes.
Thanks Black_Gold_Saw - was it like a clunk between 1st and 2nd? It’s not terrible but more like Harley gearing. The rest of the gears are butter smooth.
Hi Bruce, I do have an autobliper. I’m not using it whilst breaking it in.
