silentservice703 @Wildfire: Yes, for the plastic tanks most of the deformation is due to swelling caused by ethanol.

If your tank structure is already weakened by ethanol and you pressurize it you should be able to visualize the possible results.

Check by opening the fuel cap the next time she is on song. If she abruptly stops, check your cap vent.
Really?!

I thought much of the deformation was to do with the ethanol/water issues? Mine makes this noise occasionally, I think I'd better check the vent!

Snips Got to say, I've owned 4 Ducatis before so thought I knew, and indeed wanted, 'Italian Character', but if this is harmless, it's operatic!

Oh really?! Ha! I had just put a small amount of [supermarket *cough*] fuel in to get me to a better fuel station.

I just came on to say that it had eventually stopped and I'd put it down to some harmonic cooling of the radiator fins "or something", but something related to the fuel tank pressure makes sense... tell me more, please :-)

F3 on song

Hey,

I just got back from taking my F3 for its first service (also got tail tidy fitted, still waiting for seat cowl and even tank pad).

Anyway, the ride home was a hoot - first time in Sport mode (I've been running in religiously), and now keeping it under 11K rpm until 1600(!) miles, but I can ride more aggressively, and boy it shifts.

Anyway, parked up when I got home, and the bike makes the usual ticks and noises as it cools, except there's also a 'tone' noise, that's near constant that comes and goes, but stays on for minutes. It could be explained by some cooling effect, maybe, but sounds more electronic. If I switch on the ignition it gets slightly louder. But comes and goes seemingly irregularly. Although it's a constant tone, it's like it's singing.

20 minutes later, and it's still making the noise... any ideas?
