Hi guy's, i have a '04 Brutale and experiencing typical SPU problems (dead electronic except a few red dash lighs that go on when keys are placed and also stay on when keys are removed, etc) i removed the SPU and it is a "new" one without resin, 12 fused, black covers. It has also been to Carmo electronics for diagnose (no problems were found). I'm not sure where to start troubleshooting, the battery is weak and has possibly been placed the wrong way (switched polarity). Fuses are all fine. Haven't cheched diodes yet, i cant find them.I did found some bad (but not short-circuit) connections on unprofessionally installed led indicators and bad wiring on the power commander.
Did anyone have problems with the new SPU?
And which parts grt damaged when the battery is installed with reversed polarity?
Where is the infamous reverse polarity diode located?

After doing some diagram digging i noticed that there is one (black) wire too much connected to the positive battery terminal. I don't have the bike here so i can't check now but if there is a ground wire connected to the power terminal and there are no burned fuses, are there parts going to be fried?(ecu, psu, relais etc)?

Hi mate.
Welcome to the forum, sounds like you have a few things going here.
Firstly, make sure the battery is properly charged.
I've not seen a SPU with "no" resin in it, but I don't have a Brutale anymore so just going on what I've seen on the forum, others might chip here. Maybe show us a picture?
Your fault sound perfectly SPU, but with all going on you might have damaged the Eprom in the ECU too.

Thanks Don. Is there a way to tell if the eprom is dead? Visually or is it measureable?

The bike is running again! I compared all the wiring on the bike to the diagrams and i found a lot of bad ground wires and mixed up wires on the battery. After i rewired everything around the battery the display got back to life and after fiddling around in stupidity a bit because i forgot about the start protection when the bike is standing on the kickstand the bike also started! I didn't got to check if everything works as it is suppose to, but I'll get to that soon.
