I will profess my ignorance up front... (Airfuel, don't be mad!)

I'm thinking our bikes are made the same and tuned the same from the factory. Except for the differences in altitude, and the fact certainly that not all the bikes are in a state of optimal tune, couldn't we share a custom PCIII map from around the same altitude, and get better performance than if we just went with the stock map?

Of course, we'd need to take into consideration if we're getting a custom map from someone who has a full race exhaust system, upgraded eprom, BMC filter and etc. We really should roughly "match" our builds before using such maps. Thoughts on this? Thanks.

1/ Bikes are all quite different.
2/ Please don't take this the wrong way, but there again there is probably only one way you will take it, my custom map cost me over £100, why should I share it? would you like to pay something towards it?
I hope this doesn't come over too aggressive :)

Help pay the costs...

...I think that's reasonable. I didn't take that as aggressive at all. Me personally, I wouldn't expect something for nothing, particularly when a custom map runs about $250 to $300. Right now I don't have a PCIII for my Brutale, but it's on my wish list. My thinking is, if our bikes are almost 100% the same rolling out of the factory, why wouldn't our results be the same?

If you live at 450 ft. above sea level (as I do in Nashville), and hypothetically we both have an Arrow midpipe and BMC air filter...technically speaking, what differences remain that would make the same custom map not work on both?

Anyway, I've had both a GSXR1000 and a ZX-10R with PCIII's. Both the forum sites (http://www.gixxer.com/ & http://www.zx-10r.net/) had folks who were fairly open with sharing PC maps, both custom :D and contrived :green: . Not everybody of course, and for the reasons you mentioned.

I have stated earlier in a different post that I am ready to share mine. 750, arrow shorty, stock headers, K&N airfilter. Even if bikes are slightly different it doesnt cost you anything to upload a map and try it. If you dont get the required results you can still upload the original zero map, and take it to a qualified tuning center.
There are quite a few people sharing information on this forum which is worth a lot more than a map, they are not asking anything for it. Why would it hurt you if someone used your map? Does it cost you anything? No. You would have payed for it anyway.
And finally one remark to Admin: Dyno maps can not be uploaded to this forum because they are a different file format. Any chance to change that?

Thanks for the input, guys. I'm going to try and compile a list of modifications that different folks have made and put it into a composite matrix so others can see who's doing what out there with their Brutales. I'll start another thread for that one I think...appreciate it!:)

no worries mate, your custom map is close to worthless to anyone except your bike. even if you gave it out for free, people would still be getting what they paid for...

just the cylinder heads alone have enough variation to make the gains realized in a custom map worthless to any bike except the bike the map was made on. it's true that all cylinder heads for a particular bike are cast from the same mold. but the fact is they all flow air differently nonetheless. super-sport racing regulations prohibit porting heads, so factory teams test-flow hundreds of stock heads looking for the best one. the differences in flow can be stunning.
