Looks like there was some good machines in that auction. The question now though would be whether it was a private or dealer purchase? Could be a quick five-plus grand for someone:frown2:
Oh no.
After a little research on the Tambos VIN it seems that this one (105) was previously owned by the late great Lee Halverson.
The seller would likely have been Gary Behr, I think I have spelt that right.
According to the auction it was a court ordered sale, I gather that’s not good news for Gary.
I know that one of our members was very keen on this bike for sentimental reasons. It may now finally be available.
Thanks for starting this thread - I (we) never would have known that this bike was sold without you taking the time to mention it.
I recall that Lee installed a full set of titanium Motocorse headers, mid pipe and exhausts to this bike. They were straight cut, not slash cut. I wonder if they were removed by Gary prior to this sale and replaced with the OEM stainless steel version.
Something ain’t right here.
Looking further into this, Lee’s bike was actually number 136.
I based my initial comment on this being Lee’s bike by deciphering the last three digits of the VIN of the Tambo that just sold for 15 thousand, that being number 105. I searched for “105” on this forum and found a thread by Gary Behr looking to sell an F4CC where he also is considering selling Tamburini number 105.
I was sure that he (Gary) owned Lee’s Tambo.
I have subsequently found a thread where Lee was looking to sell his Tambo which was actually number 136. Number 136 was sold by Lee to Gary Behr.
OK worked it out.
Gary owned two Tambos (105 and 136).
Interesting that the Kelly Blue Book for motorcycle values in the USA shows the retail value at $26,490 for a Tamburini. I seriously doubt you could sell one for that much. It seems the ones I have seen on Ebay over the last couple of years only bid up to the $16 - $18k range, even with less than a 1000 miles on one of them.
This is an older thread, you may not receive a response, and could be reviving an old thread. Please consider creating a new thread.
