Thumbs down only 1 Mossy?

Joe;
its really sad there is only 1 Mossy, flying there are ~5 P-51s at my local airfield, Zamperini Field in Torrance Ca and I'm right in the flight path

here is the Mustang count;

Total Complete P-51's

291 P-51 Survivors
171 in airworthy condition
58 On Display (non-flying)
40 Repairs / Restoration
22 In Storage
12 Unknown

don't see Bob Hoover flying his anymore, he used to come over my parent's house on weekends and wait until we came out and then waggle his wings and fly off

my Father was Design Producibility Engineer on the Mustang, my Mother and Aunt illustrated all the repair manuals for NAA

all the NAA test pilots hung out at my Fathers desk, I grew up knowing all of them

That is an interesting history Noel.

The Mossie high power to weight ratio..high wing loading...twitchy at the best of times....Once it gets into an asymetric area of the flight envelope that little rudder couldn't balance off the yaw...Yaw leads to roll...shove in aileron to pick up the dropping wing and you get a nice spin develop...
They stopped doing one engine out landing practice because of this during the war.

Yeah, and the Focke - Wulf in the background as well as the Corsair F4, love it, the Mosquito was my favourite, so smooth.
