Battlax S22 - thoughts?

Hi all,

When I bought the F4 late last year she had Pirelli Corsa front and rear, the rear was quite new but the front had horrible scalloping and was a dog to ride, it felt like it was tipping into each corner.
I had a big service and fitted a new front tyre, a Battlax S22 Hypersport.

I've been running Battlax on the LM3 for years, much better than the old Pirelli Phantoms, which handled well but the front never gave me more than about 3000 km, I guess the Guzzi's heavy front end and my braking style did not suit the Phantom, and so when the mechanic suggested another Corsa I said no, I'd like the S22. Coincidentally he had the Bridgestone rep in his office at the time!
I've not had a chance to 'exercise' the tyre yet, but so far it feels really good.
Any opinions here about using the S22 on the F4?

I've had two sets of Bridgestone S21s on my F4RR and fitted a set of S22s 3 months ago which have now done about 1500km. They've all been just fine and have been the equal of the two sets of super corsas I used previously. Hence the repeat business!

The scalloping you've seen on the front tyre suggest it needs a few more lbs pressure.

Your LM3 is several worlds away from the F4 - as is my SP1000 - are you running BT45s?

Yes BT45s, they've been good. Worlds away yes, but when I bought mine in '85 she was like the MV, fastest road bike and cool design and *really* well made.
Thanks for feedback on the S22s.

I am also a fan of the S22 tires.

My B3 800RR and my Ducati Monster S4Rs and my MV F4 312R all have them.

FWIW: I agree with the comment about air pressure and scalloping!
