ABS on non-ABS 1090 RR

Can a Brutale 1090 RR be converted to ABS or is this major surgery?

Major expense. Can possibly be done, but would not be worth the expense. Just buy a bike that has it.

ABS module (big $$$$), wiring loom, wheel speed sensors (not just the sensor, think mounting, wheel rings, etc), brake lines, ECU (big $$$$)...... and more.

I used to be fast....now I just dream about it.

Add to that list, the display (dash or clocks), and ECU (fault messages), oh and a load of brake lines.

Is it or is it not ABS. I was told my 1090 didn’t have ABS. But the front fender shows ABS decal. I don’t see the ABS disks; however, when I turn the bike on, an ABS light comes on briefly. I wouldn’t think that a Moto that doesn’t have abs would have an abs light. Is there another way to verify?

This is just one of the reasons we ask folks to out their specific bike year and model in their signature line. It helps us answer these questions.

Yep,
1. must have an encoder ring on rear and front wheels.
2. Must have brake lines that go from master cylinder to abs pump then back to the calipers.
3. Must have an ABS pump, you can't miss it as it's big
4. Display will have ABS option in the menu.

Cheers
