Suspension Adjustment Confusion

Concerning the available adjustment for the TVL. The owner's manual clearly states that rain, sport, touring, and custom can be selected on the fly with the engine running and pressing the start button. This works. The custom map is created under the settings menu or with the iPhone app. This works.

However, there is a suspension adjustment table included in the back of the owners manual. It is not clear to me what this is supposed to be. Are the spring preloads for front and rear supposed to be the default settings before setting it electronically or what?

On my BMW R1200RT, they just got rid of all the knobs on the suspension and went entirely electronic.

Spring preload setting remains manual on the TVL. And as per my understanding (I have a TV), the suspension setting is not associated with the engine map running mode. It is separate settings.
