Old Brake Fluid Crystallizing

Long story short, I drained all the brake fluid out my F3 2 months ago. Something that should have taken 3 hours ended up taking months (upgrading my 2 piece calipers to M40 monoblocks on my 2012).

Ended up ordering 2 sets of brake hoses as the aftermarket ones weren't the correct size for the M40s so ended up with the OEM ones.

Before I fill it up, normally old brake fluid crystallizes if left for long. Can I just bleed the system and flush it with fresh fluid and good to go? I'm assuming fresh brake fluid will dissolve any crystals and work it out when bleeding?

I haven't seen crystals, but know from my Mityvac brake bleeder that they form in the hoses when things go dry and as I have bled it some time back, I'm assuming there will be some in the MC...

Whats your thoughts? Flush and forget?

Any dried brake fluid (crystalized) should desolve immediately with fresh fluid.....make sure you keep pushing fluid through the system until you are certain clean fresh fluid is what is coming out the bleed nipple....
PTsalas and PTsalas like this.

I used to be fast....now I just dream about it.
