910R front fork overhaul question

I had a leaking fork seal, tried Seal Mate and it still leaks. Plus, while using seal mate, a lot of oil came out. My forks were overdue for an overhaul anyway, so I figured I might as well.

Anyway, I've got the first fork all apart and am cleaning things up. My question: down at the bottom of the male side (the "bottom" of the fork near the axle), I can see some "stuff". Any suggestions on what to use to get the gunk out? There isn't a lot, but it seems like it would be best to start off completely clean. I was going to use some brake cleaner and spray it down the tube and let it drain out the bottom hole, does that sound reasonable? I also thought of stuffing a small cloth down there and twirling it around and then pulling it out.

I've never taken forks apart on a motorcycle, so I'm a newbie at this.

Thanks!

Chris

Yes....spray a bunch of brake clean in the tube, stuff a clean rag in and wipe it around with a long screwdriver or something and pull it back out. Easy peasy.

I used to be fast....now I just dream about it.
