990R Front Brake Calipers

Looking to replace the gold color calipers with either black or silver.

Are they 100mm spacing?

Looks like the M696/796 Brembo calipers are exactly the same calipers. I don't need more "braking" strength, they are good.

The 696 uses the Brembo P4.32 and they look exactly like what is on my 990R, except for the color.

Can't find a call-out anywhere for the Brutale to verify they are P4.32 calipers.

Yes 100 mm spacing. I actually upgraded to monoblocs and bought off eBay. Brembo units were for a KTM but worked just fine. Only issue I ran into was the brake lines didn't work so had to order 1090rr line.

I can't definitively say the M696 units will work but believe they will especially if disc size is the same at 310mm.

The disc size is 320mm on the 696 - but that is handled by the radial caliper mount spacing I thought - i.e. the fork caliper mount.

Sorry yes you are correct. Was in a hurry to get to work. If we were to step up to a 320mm, then would need to add spacers. Couldn’t handle the gold either so went with black.

Am I missing something? You're just looking to change the color, right? Can't you just get them powder coated? I had a pair done for $50 while I had them apart to rebuild them.

No, you're not missing anything. Brembo just doesn't recommend powder coating the calipers. With replacement calipers I don't have to wait for coating to keep riding, and I can sell the originals if desired.

I'll think about sending them off. Would need to previously find rebuild kits which adds more cost, unless the original seals/o-rings would be good.

From the factory.

I would just need to find a shop that knows how to properly tape the important stuff.
