Ohlins from Yamaha R6 for 1090RR

Hi all,
I got an offer with ridiculously low price for a brand new Ohlins TTX36 for Yamaha R6. To adapt this shock to my Brutale I can simply swap the lower mounting eyelet so I can fit it into my Brutale. Will this R6 shock work for my Brutale? I mean shock travel and performance wise?

Many thanks in advance.

While you're doing that I would add that it is very unlikely that the shock would be compatible.
Mainly because the R6 linkages are a very different design to the MV and therefore apply a different load per mm of fork travel to the shock. Therefore the internal valving and spring would be out of spec for the MV.

It ain't what you ride, it's the way you ride it.

+1, uwiik, I think you'll find that Ohlins will probably have a TTX for the Brutale 1090. The R6 will have less suspension travel, is lighter etc. being a sportbike, you won't get bang for bucks with the R6 shocks for a Brutale.

Who moved my cheese?

Very sad fact *LOL* yeah, I think you guys are probably right, meaning I have to wait to save up some more money before getting the Brutale specific TTX rear Ohlins, it is sooo expensive at double the price of R6's Ohlins.

I have shot an email to Ohlins waiting for their answer because I also contemplating about replacing the front fork with Ohlins too. Thinking about adapting BMW S1000R front fork. I have search high and low and there is no Brutale specific Ohlins other than the one they use for 1090 Corsa which only being sold through MV Corse and I have to sell my kids to afford it.

I can't stop wondering why MV does not build a closer relationship with Ohlins. While I love the bike I can't stop wondering why MV insists on Sachs and Marzocchi, yes Sachs Skyhook is awesome but for the life of me I can't seem to find a perfect tune for my Marzocchi/Sachs combo, it's either bone shattering hard or mushy bouncy throwing the bike left and right when doing high speed on rough pavement and yes I know how to set the preload perfectly

Thanks for the replies guys, I love this.forum

I have an Ohlins TTX for the 1090 sitting on a shelf in my garage. I might be persuaded to sell it.

...oh, and if you ever decided to go with a high exhaust, and you like Titanium, I have a full titanium Moto Corse exhaust for the 1090RR sitting here in a box also.
