GPS Wiring on Brutale 800 RR

After scouring the forum for a solution, here I am.

I'm awaiting delivery of my 2019 Brutale 800 RR. Purchased a Garmin Zumo 396 LMT-S. Figured out that its a bad idea to connect it directly to the battery. I'm looking to wire it to the iginition.

Stumbled upon this connector in Amazon

Hoping to have someone shed some light so taht I could get any possible stuff that I need to have the GPS up and running upon delivery.

That looks as if it connects to the battery charging port that lives under the passenger seat.

Why would it be bad to connect the GS unit directly to the battery through a fused connection? (That is what the pictured lead would do...)

Connecting to the battery is the easiest I know. I still dont want to risk draining the battery in case if I leave the GPS switched on. I'm trying to figure out a way to tap into the ignition wiring for a key off gps off route.

Then get a wire harness that has a relay in. You can get a signal from the rear brake light to trigger the relay for power.

Faster and Faster untill the fear of death subsides.....
