RIP BIL and Guzzi ride...
All,
My brother in law, Glenn died in a freak scooter accident October 7th. Since then life has been pretty cyclic-- the week after the event we were with family and working the funeral issues, etc. All in all a tragedy. Glenn indeed lived a full and well lived life. He lived near San Antonio, Texas-- USA.
As far as riding motorcycles, well yeah the death shook me up. Our very wet weather here in the Houston area helped keep me off a bike, but also it has taken me weeks to clear my mind about riding again. I have had friends and family pass before, as I am in my mid-sixties... but nobody on a motorcycle. Living in North Africa I did witness several very graphic motorcycle and car accidents with fatalities, but that was decades ago.
So, I took my Moto Guzzi V7 III Special out today. She is a beauty of a bike: smooth, plenty of power, excellent handing and brakes and comfortable. We did a 60 mile swan-about Sugar Land on a gorgeous Friday fall afternoon. I also broke in some new leather gauntlet type gloves. We had fun.
Riding is risky. Given that, I am an experienced, aware and knowledgeable rider. I stay within my skill limits. Given that, riding is risky and can be lethal given the wrong mix of conditions, timing or chaotic drivers. I never get lazy on a bike.
I will share my riding mantra-affirmation: I am focused, smooth and relaxed. All is in Divine Order.
Tomorrow I am meeting my riding buddy Mitch for lunch in Katy. He will be on his new Kawasaki 900, and I will fire up my MV Agusta Brutale. It will be a good time.
Not sure why this forum rotated my picture from this afternoon's ride-- maybe an Admin can fix it?
cheers,
Lucydad
