Bad news, everyone! Last days I visited a couple of CA dealers and they all have 2017 Dragsters, and ALL say next things:
- there is NO and there will be NO 2018 Dragster at all
- no US dealer has new dragster
- they expect it in "a couple of months", likely not before Oct
- there is no US pricing yet
- there is a really low chance to get it before Nov
- it will be called 2019 Dragster in US, for sure
And, of course, there will be no models to "look and seat" because most likely all will be preordered this year
All dealers are from mvagusta.com official list
PS. Likely I will fall back to my another no.1 choice - Monster 1200S (Grey) - just because this bike is real right now and I can fight dealers for discounts because they already have some stock and even promotions on it ))
US dealership discounts are just a matter of concurrency
But the problem is not demand or discounts, the problem is that there is nothing to demand and no any hint when it may become available even for preorder
So, you're assuming new Dragster is available anywhere? or may be any real-world photos (not computer renders from mvagusta, com and other press materials)?
It would be interesting to know that they really already assembled a couple >
you should not be able to "buy" any MV. you should have to pre order it.
The high end bicycle world has gone this direction over the past 5yrs and it saved many major companies lots of $$ and helped keep resale values higher than they were in the past. obviously this is how cars work...
should have two choices.
pay msrp and pre order or buy used for more than msrp
Part of this is down to the terrible strategy that put MV where it is now, where dealers were ordering multiple bikes then failing to sell them. I believe that if a dealer wants a bike, they must pay upfront for it. So it is at the dealer's discretion whether they hold stock or not? Not sure about test bikes though.
As for them not being made, I've visited 4 UK dealers recently and they all have Dragster's in stock.
My Dragster is 2018 Euro 4. That's what the VIN tells.
