Dragster seat stuck

Hi all,
Newbie question...sorry. I have searched the forum and cant find an answer to a quick question I have.
Neither of the keys I have will release the seat. Tried WD40 down the lock and given everything a good wiggle, but no luck. Is this a problem anyone else has had??

I will preface this with the fact that I don't have a Dragster. That being said, the seat release is cable actuated from the same key that fits the ignition. Being cable actuated, it is subject to the woes of the cable not being adjusted correctly and, if the cable length is "long", then it will not have sufficient tension when the key is actuated to release the latch at the seat pin.

One "solution" is to find the cable routing and use a hook, or your finger if it can get there, and simply pull on the cable housing. Pulling on the cable housing can actuate the latch via tension. If there isn't enough room to pull the cable and actuate the latch, try pulling on the cable to apply some tension, then actuating the key.

This method has worked on my F4 mono-posto and on other's bi-posto. The trick is finding the cable housing.

A question: Does the key turn in the seat lock?

One more thought: Try pushing down on the center of the seat while attempting to unlock...that will remove some of the force that may be causing your latch to stick.

Thank you for such prompt and helpful replies.
I pushed down harder on the seat and eventually it popped up and I could see the problem. Its the price of such a dramatic design having no real mudguard as such but a lot of road crud had settled around the lock release mechanism making it stiff. A good clean up and re-grease seems to have worked wonders. I suspect the bike has been standing a while.
Ebz and Ebz like this.
