Long time lurker, first time poster - Brutale 800RR

Hey All,

I've around here for a while, just never posted before.

Picked up my Brutale 800RR last November and have put on over 10,500km on it since. Farking love it!!

Here's a few pics

I like doing big rides, so I've done a few mods to it to make it more comfortable and better suited to touring.
First mod was a Givi TankLock tank bag. Highly recommend!!
(You can see it in the second pic above. I also bought another bigger tank bag for longer trips).

Then came a 12V lighter socket and 5V USB charging port on the handlebar to charge stuff and a RAM mount to hold my GPS (or GoPro heh).

I found the seat somewhat uncomfortable after like 400+km so I ordered the comfort seat from MV. On the short ride I've done, it may be more comfortable, but I need to do a big ride with it to be sure. As comparison, you can see the difference in the two seats below, the original is the partially transparent image. (The material on the comfort seat is soo much grippier, very awesome)

Most recent purchase was the Ventura Astro Top Box.

Seen above with the MV Rear Seat bags and Big TankLock bag.
Haven't ridden with this setup yet, but have a big trip planned soon and I can't wait!!

Anyway, I've probably babbled enough!

Nice!

Welcome to the board!

What we've got here, is failure to communicate.

Howdy

I have tons of questions since I need to start equipping myself for longer rides.

Please can you post some pictures and give your opinion on the mv rear seat bags - how does it strap on, usefullness vs the rear topbox?

Apologies for the questions - but you got me started!

Also pics and details of your rear topbox - mounts, type etc

The seat - is it the rider/passenger seat black - SPSAM001B3 - as per the international website? Very keen to hear your impressions after a longer ride. Anything more than 250km at the moment is not fun on my standard seat.

Faster and Faster untill the fear of death subsides.....

Thanks everyone!

GeorgeO:
I haven't used the MV rear bags yet, that was the first time they've been fitted LOL
I'll take some more pics tonight mate.
The rear bag straps onto the rear bag base (which is purchased separately...)
The base attaches to the seat. it's got a pocket at the very end and a couple of velcro straps.
It also comes with two "bars" which fit between the saddle bags. (The rearmost doesn't fit if you have the aus spec mud guard though)

The rear top box is a Ventura Astro Kit. http://www.bargainbikegear.com.au/on...ckets-included
It came with all parts required, no cutting or permanent modifications required on the bike.
Took about an hour to totally fit. I'm very impressed with the quality of the parts and the fitment.
I chose this because it had the least intrusive visual impact when not required.

Yes, this is the seat I have now.

I'm not sold on it yet, but I've done over 400km's on the standard seat without much discomfort, 500km's got a little sore though.

I haven't used the top box or rear bags on my bike yet. I don't leave for a few weeks.

Depends on how far your going to travel, I got by with just a rear seat bag and tank bag on my old bike. For a few days of travel.

I'm planning on being away for at least a week this time so chose to get the top box. I likely won't need the rear seat bag. I am also pondering if I ever need the seat bag now...as the top box is soo much more convenient and easier to fit!

Will get back with some pics tonight mate

Have a good one!

Will let you know how the comfort seat goes!
Pondering whether a gel seat attachment or something would be better..
