2013 F3

Ok. So, after trying to buy a new F3 for a few months, I've located a 2013 F3.

Low mileage (I did 5x the total mileage of the F3 last year on my RVF!) , full service history.

I'd prefer a new bike, but hey, I can't find one. This is 4K cheaper than new.

What should I check / insist fixed?

Thanks guys. Looking to join you guys soon! If not soon, I'm gonna end up drinking the 11k (for new!) that is burning a hole in my pocket!

I'd say one of the biggest things is to make sure it has the latest mappings loaded onto it. That alone would fix many problems of the older models. That and if it's had the sprag clutch replaced or not, as that could be a possible ticking time bomb being a 2013 model. Other than those two big things, not a lot else to really worry about.

Sprag clutch shouldn't be a problem on a 2013. Sprags are only a problem on the 800 and there weren't any 800's in 2013.

Sprag clutch problems are on the 675 & the 800 so it does need to be checked. They are just more prevalent on the 800.

I stand corrected. Just hadn't seen any forum activity regarding sprag issues on the 675 (I have two 675's and it's never been a problem). I may also have been wrong on there not being any 2013 800's. I do have some test articles in my archives that say they were testing a 2013 F3 800. Bet there weren't many though.

So far I've got :
Latest mappings
Sprag clutch
Gear position sensor (I've read on here that this is an issue?)
Deforming fuel tank?

Has anything else changed/ been upgraded build wise (as opposed to s/w) since 2013?

ABS, slipper clutch (I think all 800's came with a slipper though) & monobloc front brakes on the later bikes. Latest gear position sensor is a 8000B8763 (left hand side of the engine toward the top). Changed by recall but that may have run out. There's a kit now to upgrade it. If you're looking at F3's, you can tell the year of manufacture by the 10th character of the VIN - "D" is a 2013, "E" is a 2014, etc.
