Pics: Anglesey Track Day 10th Sept 2016

.

Here are a few pics taken of a track day me and my mates attended at the annual BSA & Triumph Owners club event this year held at Anglesey,Wales.

The weather on the day turned out to be superb, compared to the driving rain and 65mph winds the night before.

It was a really nice friendly event, with loads of different bikes on the track.

The first few pics is of my mates 65' Works Triumph prototype 500cc race bike.. In 1965 Triumph experimented with one of their works engines in a Royal Enfield frame.. Triumph where looking for a better handling frame for their works 500cc race bikes and the factory race dept produced two with Royal Enfield frames at the time.. This is one of them..

Our mate Martin Russell ( or God to his mates ) of Rustler Racing helped produce some of the missing factory special one off parts to complete the restoration..

Martin was also on track with his unique Parallelogram Formula 1 race 940cc Rustler BSA, which he last raced Isle of Man in 1979.

Guy Martin apparently was walking around the pits checking out the bikes, but I missed him.. His TV " Wall of Death BSA bike" was on display and he popped down to check out the event..

Anyway, here are a few pics of some bikes at the event and I hope you enjoy them.

J

..

The last few pics is of a bike that shouldn't have existed.

The engine is a very, very rare 1923 Triumph 500cc Single that stood on a display stand in Edward Turners office, the CEO of Triumph at the time.

The gearbox is a 3 speed and uses a light grease as lubrication, as apposed to gearbox oil.

When the Triumph factory finally closed down and went bankrupt, the engine in its stand was bought by Bill Crosby a Triumph dealer at the time in Ealing London.. The engine remained in Bill's workshop until in 2014 he managed to track down a genuine 1923 Triumph frame with some cycle bits, which was missing an engine.

The rest is history !

My pleasure Graham and glad you enjoyed them.. It appears we haven't got to many fans of the old generation bikes here on the forum ( which isn't surprising), so I doubt I'll bother posting anymore pics of these types of events I attend.

The Smiths clocks are cool, but if you get a chance, see if you can find an old Bonniksen speedo.. They use to come fitted to Brough Superior's and are my favourite period clock.... Very, very rare nowadays and super expensive if you can find one.

Fan! Love the old school stuff. Keep posting if possible. It's a forum, I think if you look at any thread, there are like 100 times more VIEWS than POSTS generally.

That is a P&M... Richard Peckett is a very good dear friend of mine (built my 85' Eddie Lawson Replica) and I've know him for 30+ years..In my humble opinion, he's the best all round bike engineer here in the UK..

When true engineers like Richard and Martin Russell have retired, us bike enthusiasts have no where to go.. There's nobody out there coming through the ranks to replace this Legends..

Even the Harris Brothers from Harris Performance all retired this year.
