Thinning the herd......

With 14 motorcycles, my "fleet" has migrated from a blessing to a burden. It's just too many to maintain. I've a few that haven't been ridden in a year or so.

So.......time to clear out a few. How many? I'm not sure. No set number. Any "sacred cows"? Yes....my '03 Heritage and my 910R for sure. Any others? I don't know....probably the yellow Vespa because it's fun and cheap and the Ruckus because we use it nearly every day. I don't know where I'll end up.....maybe 6-7 or so.

For sure on the way out: both of the little cafe racer Hondas (CB175 and CB350-4) because I never ride them, Jackie's chrome VRod because she can't ride anymore because of health issues, and the Monster S4RS because I'm keeping the Brutie and don't need two hot rod bikes.

On the fence: both of my investment bikes.....the CBX and the R100S. Why? In part because they're likely to bring blood, and I've not put 50 miles on either one in over a year......the Sportster 48 and the Kawasaki Concours. Why? Ambivalence mostly. I like both of them, but I don't love either of them.

So, that leaves Lee's Green Monster and the '34 Harley. IF I sell the Green Monster, David's got first dibs. As for the '34, it's really not a motorcycle....it's historical industrial art. I could happily end up keeping both or maybe sell both......this is a very cloudy vision.

Prices? I've no firm ideas. I don't NEED to sell anything, so I'm not forced to sell. That being said, I'm not planning to hold anyone up, or give any thing away. Carl and Beth have offered to help me navigate the EBay arena.

Most of the bikes are in my album. Take a look, and PM me with any interest.

910R, S4RS Monster,'78 BMW R100S, Heritage Softail, Chrome V-Rod, Sportster 48, Kawasaki Concours 1400, '07 Ultra Classic with sidecar, yellow Vespa LX 150, a cool little Ruckus, and a very understanding wife........

Clarifying the "why" question......I've got a couple of very different vehicle plays in the works......1953 Ford F100 and the 911-50. Both of these are stupid, stupid, stupid economic decisions that would be somewhat mitigated by raising some cash. Jackie is so very indulgent of my foolishness, but even she has limits.

Additionally, the Guzzi V7 Racer, and the Honda CB1100 retro bikes are very interesting to me. Turning a 1700 mile CBX that I'm afraid to ride into a CB1100 that I'm not afraid to ride doesn't necessarily make fiscal sense, but it might make motorcycling sense.

910R, S4RS Monster,'78 BMW R100S, Heritage Softail, Chrome V-Rod, Sportster 48, Kawasaki Concours 1400, '07 Ultra Classic with sidecar, yellow Vespa LX 150, a cool little Ruckus, and a very understanding wife........

Hi Randy.
I appreciate you noting that IF you decide to sell the Green Monster that you'll let me know before entertaining any offers.

That CBX is incredible.

It ain't what you ride, it's the way you ride it.

That CBX is the jewel in the herd, but glad to know you're keeping the 910R. It's really a nice riding bike.

Carl is busy insuring the populace has enough ammo to win the war.

Randy, I rode a Confedrate Hellcat in Daytona with a giant S&S engine just like the GM.....the hydraulic clutch was light as a feather.....I'll get you some details.

I used to be fast....now I just dream about it.

A track bike, a standard, a supermotard, a cruiser, a dual sport, a dirt bike, and a tourer. Of those seven categories, I'm not really interested in a cruiser right now, and am past my dirt bike days, but would be interested in a sport tourer and a supermotard.
