I think you may not understand the legislative processes in the US, especially in this modern even-more-corrupt era. We don't vote for legislation. All we do is vote for legislators, and the pickin's are so thin it doesn't matter much which party or candidate gets our vote.

I'd wager the simple and clear majority would change many things if they had any means of effectively doing so. As it is, it's an exercise in futility with Big Government.

And this is only the tip of the tip of the tip of the iceberg, unfortunately.

Blake, Erik's a really smart guy. He likely knows our legislative process better than you or me.

Then I humbly recant my explanation.

I think Gary (lance) wanted to add this tidbit about this particular case, but his mouse-button-finger has a cramp.

""Because he wasn't convicted purely due to the felony murder law. He was convicted on suspicion of knowing conspiracy, since he testified that the other people told him everything about the plan for the crime before he lent them the car. The jury decided that he should have or did know that it was going to happen, they decided that his current claims of "I didn't think they were serious" are backpedaling.

It's pretty gray, and none of us are in any position to seriously question that, without transcripts, videos, evidence, and discussion with jury members.

If the facts were well established that the friends said "we're going out for smoothies" or something, as this article falsely implies, he would absolutely have NOT been convicted or probably even tried."

Much like the McDonalds burned woo woo case, the details make a difference."

I for one agree with this law.

If you are taking part in a crime that results in a death, why shouldn't you be held responsible? Just because someone didn't pull the trigger doesn't mean they didn't have something to with it.

What we've got here, is failure to communicate.

Agreed, though not sure why he'd ever testify to hearing about their plans. Plead the fifth! Do they still allow that?
