Thumbs up The Mustangs are out!!!!

A couple of the 6 Mustangs based at Zamperini Field in Torrance are out playing this afternoon
As soon as they're airborne I can hear them

Poor me, I get to listen to them......If you're in So Cal on Independence Day come on down to Redondo Beach, bring an
American Flag to wave at them......Usually they're all out playing

I too feel honoured to hear a Rolls Royce Merlin in the skys above where I work and Live. Most fine days; the 2 seat Spitfire (flying out of Duxford, Cambridgeshire UK) is in the air carrying out acrobatics for the person in the second seat, who is fortunate enough to be able to affford it.

The sound track of the planes flying in large formations, during the Second World War, must have been amazing.

Thumbs up ?

Growing up 2.5 miles from Zamperini Field on Saturdays a pilot would buzz my parent's house in his P-51
Then he'd come back and waggle his wings and we'd wave to him......

Probably 25 years ago I stopped him at the Post Office.....
"Bob, you know my Father Curt"
"You're Curt's son?"
"Yes
And we shook hands

All the North American Aviation test pilots hung out at my Father's desk.......The closest one to Manufacturing and the field

Bob?.....As in Bob Hoover, the best stick and rudder man that ever lived
