Question Which helmet do you recommend?

Hi all,
I'm looking to buy a new helmet which I'm also going to get custom painted with a design I have been working on, but I was wondering if anyone had some advice or positives & negatives about certain brands and models.

I have looked at the following as possibilities:

Shoei X-11
Shoei X-12
Shoei XR-1100
Arai Corsair-V
AGV T-2

I's be grateful for any opinions or comments...

Thanks

Hi Ash..

You can't really gone wrong with any Shoei..

Well made, quiet, and low weight.

If you are going to have it painted, check out the Shark.

There's a site somewhere that has a very extensive test on many different helmets. The Shark was a top performer.

I also have an Arai RX7 or something which I like.

They all fit different shapes of head, so they can't all be good for you. Check out the AGV GP Tech as well. Fits me great, and has particularly good aerodynamics.

Hi Ash,

Firstly i would say that you must try on the above named brands and models to see which fits your head size and shape as this is one of the most important factors when buying a new helmet. Once you have found which is best suites you then get that brand and model in white colour coat as its the easiest to work with when custom Painting or air brushing.

It also helps if you choose a helmet that doesnt have too many complicated vent designs on it as it will cause you less problems and time when stripping to spray or masking up.

It is easier to work with an Arai helmet than shoei or AGV if your stripping the helmet to the Polystrene if your masking up then all the above named as equally easy.

If you need further info drop me a PM as we are launching in mid Jan 2010 and will be offering Our own designs for the MV agusta and Ducati riders

Cheers
Al

Regards

Al

+1 about fit. MikeF4Black hit the nail on the helmeted head. While I'm partial to the Arais, when it comes to fit they're not all created equal. I was fortunate enough to meet a fit expert years ago who put me in a smaller (oval) helmet than I would have chosen myself.

I have several Shoeis....quietest of the group....I like them

I have a couple of Arais....great helmets, good fit, better ventilation then my RF1000 Shoeis

I have a Bell Star....by far the lightest and most aerodynamic with the best ventilation...but also the noisiest (but I wear ear plugs)

I wear the Bell Star most of the time.

You have to try them on to decide.

I used to be fast....now I just dream about it.
