Took dragster out for some backroads fun!!! crash

Went out with a big group of riders this weekend to test out a new cheap cam alternative to go pro and ended up getting a small crash footage. Rider and bike were fine and able to continue on. It was 98 degress out and the cam kept getting condensation in waterproof housing. Need a vented housing.

Lets get twisted ride 7/19/15 small crash!:

Just an observation but do most sports bike riders in the U.S. Just wear jeans and trainers (sneakers) and possibly a leather race jacket?
It certainly seems that way whereas over here thats pretty rare and generally frowned upon, the vast majority wear leather race suits and boots?

Glad your mate was ok and at least some of you stopped and went back for him!

A lot of riders wear inappropriate gear here.....they haven't enjoyed road rash yet. I tend to go with full gear, but occasionally have to ride a bike without. When that happens I ride VERY cautiously....

We also have the jeans with Kevlar and even CE approved armor.....but sneakers are worthless regardless.

I used to be fast....now I just dream about it.

Yeah I've got a pair of Kevlar jeans with the armour inserts, I tend to wear mine just popping to a local bike meet near me 5 miles down the road, still wear my leather jacket and boots underneath though and take it easy too because there's always loads of police about that night. When I'm out on a proper hack it's full gear every time.

We Americans like to have our liberties and let Darwin cull the herd (but then bitch when it affects our insurance rates). I spent three years in South Carolina where there is no helmet law and saw my fair share of exposed skin and skulls.

I would say it's an equal mix of genuine ignorance and willful ignorance of the situation and consequences. I showed up to my first group ride when I moved to California wearing my commuter gear of Kevlar jeans, boots, and a leather jacket and found myself woefully under dressed for my first session of canyon carving. I promptly invested in full leathers and wear them for everything but commuting. Then again I'm a sissy and really don't like the idea of skin grafts.

Holy crap, anyone could have seen that coming from MILES away, literally.

Let's look at the clues:

1. A squid shows up for a ride in jeans and sneakers.

2. ...on a bike with a blacked-out windscreen and an illegal HID headlight conversion.

3. Dangling toes, riding on his arches instead of the balls of his feet.

4. Holy counter-leaning, Batman! Look how far in the wrong direction he's leaning. ANYONE should have seen that he was super uncomfortable doing what he was doing, and that bad things were about to happen.

And then the classic target fixation, followed by the classic panic-stomping of the rear brake (locking up the rear wheel), the classic freezing up on the bars- not steering (right off the outside of the road), and then the absolutely inevitable falling down.

That didn't need to happen. It is fortunate that he didn't take out an innocent oncoming rider on a right-hander.

I realize he wasn't the only squid in that group, but somebody should have flagged him down, had a talk with him, and kicked him off the ride if need be.

Extra points for the squid in the jeans, athletic shoes and T-shirt, with the externally-worn back protector and wrist-length textile gloves- I would have guessed him to take up high-speed gardening first.
