I have seen most the the reports concerning leather v textiles etc. Leather still comes out on top.

If your wanting a good summer jacket, I would look for something which as the small perforations. I think Dainese do a nice one. I use the Bora Jacket and its fantastic!

Leather affords the best protection. Get a jacket that is fully perforated. I use a Vanson with coolmax underneath.

In extreme heat (at least AZ dry heat and I suspect Florida's humidity), leather will not cut it. You may wanted to consider a mesh jacket that's reinforced with leather:

Honestly I must say riding in 90 or 100 degrees sucks, what ever You wear. So I have a perforated Spidi Paptor Suite which I use at such temps. And believe it or not I use long summer underwear (this microfiber stuff) underneath. First to get out of my Suit again and secondly to collect the sweat. I used in Italy the MV Agusta Corse Vented Jacket, which worked pretty good, riding my 350B. But honestly at this temps is the cooling effect of the Air anyway nearly zero. Body Temperature versus Air Temperature.
I'm really looking foreward to the new vented MV Agusta Jacket (Textile). I saw it at Cascina Costa and at Eicma. It promissed snug fit and decent Protection in my Eyes.
