as the title says, can anyone recommend the nicest
roads and tours in south california?

i am for the next 5 weeks on a business trip in santa
barbara. below is a picture of the bike i have available
during that time. it is not a MV, but it promises a lot of fun

it certainly would be fun, if anyone would be up for joining into
the ride.

That's a nice bike and fun as well!

I ride up to Santa Barbara a couple times a month. Beautiful area. Traffic isn't so bad there and scenery is great. I used to live there about 7 years ago.

I'm sure you've already ridden on Highway 154? Nice road but can be pretty dangerous on weekends with all the tourist traffic.

I'd recommend head north on 101 a bit towards Morro Bay. If you have more time and your butt can handle it, you should also try Highway 1. Voted as one of the best drives here in the US. It will take you up to Monterey. It's a stunning drive/ride and takes you along right along the Pacific cost. If you go a bit inland you will see many wineries if you're interested in that as well.

If you want to head south of Santa Barbara, you can try Mulholland highway. Very tight and technical roads. I would recommend you go on weekdays if possible. I'd personally avoid LA itself for the traffic.

If you want more info on some local roads and a guided motorcycle tour of California, try this link: http://www.pashnit.com/

Those guided tours can be expensive but from what I hear well worth it.

Let me know where you decide to ride. If it's on a weekend and it's local to Santa Barbara, I might be able to ride along.

Have fun.

Yosemite is definitely worth a trip. Just went there a monthish ago (though by car).

I drove up to glacier point. If you're riding up to yosemite, RIDE THE ROAD TO GLACIER POINT!!! what a nicely paved road that is, although the highway before entering the 30+ mile road to glacier point was being redone (maybe it's finished by now?.... was all dirt when i drove on it)..
