Although I did demo the desert sled yesterday at 33.9" seat height and it was a riot! I practically needed step ladder to climb up. The guys held the bike upright and I had my right tippy toe on the ground, clutch in, bike running and some fat little ignorant bald dude was making 'anti-girls on bikes' commentary in the background. So he gets on the Pani 959 while I get the boys to put up the kickstand on the desert sled for me. They ask "are you sure?" and I say "yeah, I'll be fine as long as I'm rolling, just kick it down into first". So the group of 6 riders roll out, the demo lead guy, the other models and I'm 5th in case I crash, won't take them down, and my friend is sweeping on the multistrada so he can block traffic if I crash the desert sled. Mr Male Chauvinist stalls the 959 so I roll on by and then wave him around back into our previous ride formation, I'm courteous that way...then after we turn a little way down the route he hits neutral...and slows way down so I pass him. I mime like I'm pedaling a bicycle (as that's what he should have been riding instead of a pani) Then we're up on the highway and we all fly by him because he's crawling along...I had to put my arms out straight at the sides as if I was flying...just to say look dummy, this is how a short girl rides a big boy bike with no hands! When we got back to the dealer he got off the little boy pani and left. All the other guys got quite a chuckle out of it and said "hey, ride this one next". It was fun. That desert sled was pretty cool. I did go down to try an adventure bike, because I had that ugly blue s700BMW GS. I ended up trading the GS for the V4 instead. Woops.

Getting OT here but, wow, congrats on the Pani...

I went on a MV demo day a couple of years ago, only about three weeks after my hip replacement (RHS)

So I'm using a kerb to get my leg over the Dragster RR they have provided me with and to be sure some of the staff / other participants are looking like (kind of obviously) "WTF is the old guy doing here if he can't even get on the bike properly?" (I too am inseam challenged)

I reassure them that

"Don't worry, once I get on the bloody thing I will be able to ride it like anyone else.." and the sales team leader figures "he did get off that Diavel that pulled up before" and says

"Hey, ride it like you stole it, you'll love it"

to which I reply

"Don't worry, I will.."

he comes back with "hang a couple of wheelies.."

to my

"Just watch me.."

It was a "mass test ride" of around a dozen bikes.

By the time we return around twenty minutes later (we are in the Adelaide Hills near Lobethal...fine riding territory) I have the most incredible shit eating grin, I am enamoured with the Dragster in a way I never have been with the Diavel and no-one had any doubt that the old bloke could ride a new MV....

I wish I could be with you guys for the big meet up but alas, for this year at least I have other priorities in the form of much needed home improvements.

don't even...you know you said someone would bring me a motorcycle

PS I bought a V4 Pani today, pretty excited to get it home once they attempt to shorten the seat height a bit
June, NO PROBLEM...

I'll be at Gapalicious this year as my Loop ends, and with Mary's bike. Mary won't be attending, as she would have already been riding with me for 7 weeks during the Loop. Her Triumph 675 Daytona has already been modified to accommodate her height. You're welcome to use it, and you can even test ride it in July!

Thanks David! Contemplated buying a trailer to drive down and bring both my Brutale and my new stray bullet. Bought it a personalized plate today. The DMV girl had to type in justification for why I needed a motorcycle plate to say PUNY. The other one says BRUTIE. It would be far easier to fly in and Mary's bike would be perfect.
