Sardinia roads were the best but very tight in places.

I'll post some pics and more info when I get a chance, only got back yesterday...

We did the bar/restaurant bit...roads in Tavullia are in a very bad state pot holes everywhere - guess they leave it to slow down the fans !

About 200 miles a day is as much as I could take on an F4 these days, looks a great adventure though.

Thumbs up Nice one

.

Sounds like a blast Adam..

Did you manage to ride through Siena ?

All around that district is beautiful.. I've been to Florence once some years ago and was gobsmacked by the architecture and history...

"What have the Romans ever done for us?"

The ride was about the roads and the riding and not about going into cities, getting caught up in crazy Italian traffic and probably getting knocked off in the process..

The scenery and hotels were great but some of the Italian mountain roads need some work !

Ade, we weren't sure what mileage we could do on the MV's.
Colin is used to 600 - 700 a day on his zzr1400, we were guessing maybe 200 max like you said.
No tank or saddle bags, just a small ruck sack each...

On twisty tight roads obviously not a chance, we spent 3 hours the 1st day following a route through the mountains and got about 70 miles.
It was almost 3 point turns on some of the hairpins !
On the quicker roads we stopped every 50 miles for coffee and that made it real easy - the longest we did was 275 miles in the pissing rain.
Most of it was 150 - 200

I'll post up a few pics

This is how the bikes arrived in Nice...

Then the 1st breakdown - day1, my standard datatool alarm / immobilizer packed in.
1-0 to me

Things got better when we stumbled upon a nice castle to stay in that evening !
