Wink Looking for an Exhaust Valve Actuator

Anyone here who has removed their exhaust valve system and would like to get rid of the actuator?

I'm doing some service work on a 1090RR..... the actuator works on the bench but not on the bike. I'm thinking my testing motor voltage is wrong value.

Looking to buy a working one for comparison testing...and replacement if the original is indeed bad (which it may well be...)....but new is just stupid money.

Trying to become more familiar with the later model bikes....

Let me know here or by private message or by email. Thanks.

I used to be fast....now I just dream about it.

Mine is still on my 1090RR, Ed. It is a 2010....I'm not sure when I'll be getting to the bike...or the garage...or the trailer.....

Thanks, but I don't think you want to take it off for me.... Unless you're going to get a new full exhaust system.

I have had the full TI shorty on for years. I left the actuator on the frame and simply unhooked the cables. Electrically, it still functions. I don't know if I would get an error code if I removed it electrically.

Yes it does... All the MVs use the same one.

Chuck, I think you may get a small light on the dash, but no fault code warning otherwise.....but I'm not sure.

Here are photos of what I get on this bike and the DTC screen from VDST software. P0489 is exhaust valve actuator according to the manual.

Nothing on the dash except the light, and the light only comes on, after clearing the DTC with VDST, when the engine is started.
Then it stays on every time the key is on, until you clear it again.

I have decided that the position sensor portion of the actuator is what has failed. The ECU doesn't know where the pulley is, so it does nothing, just turns on the DTC (that's Detected Trouble Code in On Board Diagnostics talk ...OBD... for those unfamiliar).

The little DC stepper motor turns the pulley both ways with no complaints when 6 volt power is applied, so that isn't the issue. On the bike it would use either the battery voltage or a 5 volt power from the ECU.

And the sensor resistance changes up and down...but I have no specification for what that resistance should be, so that's where I think the failure is.

Anyone have one they would part with for a reasonable (read inexpensive) price???

Appears this same Mikuni actuator is used on some Aprillias, but haven't seen any Ducati ones that look similar.
