Lesson Learned!

a so called self claimed artist - patient of mine convinced me to allow him do some air brushing on my Bell Star Carbon helmet. Out of good well - I came up with a design (Isle of Man crest) and handed him my helmet as well as asking price. The gent raved about his work and all possible things he can do so I was convinced. What I received as a final product was well bloody hell short of expectations. I was so shocked I didn't honestly know what to say or do.

At this time - I have contacted TroyLee Design in So Cal and am hoping they can salvage my helmet. Moral of the story - make sure you get some great references/insurance/etc. before you hand over anything of value to self proclaimed anything!

I gather this was done outside, on a particularly windy day in the rain during an earthquake?

You say he's a patient of yours?
Well, if I were you I'd suggest offering to circumcise this idiot and do a similarly crappy job.
It only seems fair.

It ain't what you ride, it's the way you ride it.

Bugger, I'm looking at having both my helmets done for the new season, very nervous now.

is it the quality of the work (actual spraying), the quality of the design, the interpretation of your design or all three that is the problem?

Art - this guy was totally stoked with his work when he gave me my helmet. To him it was the best work he had done. The reason why I had no words and was at shock thinking what the f*$k did you do to my helmet! My 4 year old could have done better work. Its a shame he doesn't realize that he actually ruined a perfectly brand new helmet.

Donsy - make sure you see a catalog of work and meet some of the customers before you hand over your helmet.
