Please advise on my first mods ever!

Hey Guys,

I currently own an '07 Brutale 910S and it already has some customising done such as Rizoma mirrors, bar ends, Arrow mid-pipe and maybe a couple of other small things, but I want to do more.

Problem is I have never done any customising of my previous bikes (it just wasn't worth it being learner bikes), and I am pretty hopeless when it comes to down to anything mechanical, etc. but I'm ready to give it a go.

So with the help of the forum, I'll try to contain all my questions in this thread, rather than continuously starting new threads every time I have a question.

So the first things I like to do are replace and install a carbon cockpit cover, carbon taillight cover, and change the indicators for the front and rear.

Questions:

Any advise on how easy/hard replacing the cockpit and taillight covers would be appreciated. Is it literally taking a few screw outs, pulling out the old covers and installing the new? I think i'll be able to handle that

Do you guys normally use the same style of indicators on the front as on the back to keep the style consistent? Would it look funny to have different front and rear indicators?

The indicators I have in mind are the Rizoma LED Action Indicators. Do I just need to buy the indicators, or are there any other cables I need to purchase as well? Are these as simple as plug and play to install?

Are the back and front indicators installed the same way?

It says I need indicator adapter plates for the front. What are those for?

Any help/advise would be appreciated.

Cheers!

Ok Justin.....I'll kick this one off...,
Replacing the OEM cockpit cover with a carbon one is dead easy...it's held on with two small screws (one either side) screwed into it's mounting bracket...simply remove each of the screws and gently prise the cover of the bracket and replace..(5 minute job)

The taillight cover is a little more involved...,but still simple enough.
You remove the rider and pillion seat pads... remove both side panels (each side of the petrol tank) remove both the side sections of bodywork and their retaining screws to gain access to the taillight cover...remove it and take out the tail-light. Reassemble following the same process with the carbon replacement. (take note how you disassembled it).

Definitely keep the front and rear indicators consistent..they would in my opinion look strange if they were 'different'

I have Rizoma indicators on my bike...you will need compatible cable adapters for them to mate up.

The front indicators are installed the same way but you will need the adapter plates (backing plates)...these are to cover the two holes left on the headlight brackets when you have removed the OEM ones. To mount the front ones front ones you'll have to also remove the headlight obviously.

Here is a links to one of my threads on this 'typa' thing which may be helpful. However backing plates are now commercially available (they weren't at the time I wrote this thread)...and I think you can now get ready made cable adapters.

Cheers..and all the best with your mods

I'll tackle the carbon front and rear first. Seems like easy enough jobs!

The indicators seem a little more difficult, but I'll see how I go.

Thx for the reply. I'm sure I'll have more questions as I go along

I'm looking to add a belly pan to the Brutale. Leaning towards the Cafe Racer belly pan by Design Corse.

Are Design Corse or Evolution Bike the best options to choose from?

I believe I have to put a heat shield on the inside of the belly pan?

Also, how easy is the Belly Pan to install onto the bike itself?

For the guys who have belly pans, do you just paint them yourselves?
