ECU Reflash

Just wondering if anyone has done this to their F3, and if you are happy with the expense and results?
I am mainly interested in the elimination of the top speed limiter.

Thanks in advance!

As far as I know (correct me if I'm wrong!) there is no top speed limiter. I've flashed my ECU to get the clutchless up and downshift working and I'm more than happy with it! Best thing I've ever done, also the shifting is much smoother now

Going to get it tuned properly soon with the Akrapovic WSBK exhaust and MWR air filter in place
khosakul and khosakul like this.

There is definitely a speed limiter, at least on mine. I have had the bike at full throttle (at lock out), in 6th gear and at an indicated 162-165 MPH when the rpm red light begins to flash and the engine cuts out until I let off the throttle. Kind of annoying to have happen while at the track.
There is a shop that offers ECU reflash for $499, which eliminates the speed limiter, among other things. I just wonder if this messes up other things. Thanks!

so you are trying to say you have not reached the RPM limiter yet and the engine cuts out?

I believe I know what he means. My bike is currently set to 8.000 rpm max. (age restriction)
When u hit 8.000 rpm the engine really gives it a strong engine brake and lower its rpm to 6.000/7.000. Now imagine this when it happens at 120mph this can be pretty dangerous.

So what thread starter means is is there a way to stop it from engine breaking and just keep hitting the rev limiter.

Well, I thought it was the limiter doing its thing.
This is exactly what I do: accelerate continuously while changing gears, all the way to 6th gear. I keep on the throttle and see speeds go up past the 160 MPH mark. As soon as I see 162-165 MPH (it actually varies the three or four times this has happened), the red light will start flashing and the engine sputter like it is going to cut off. I slightly let off the throttle and the flashing and sputter go away. I just assumed it was how the top speed limiter lets you know "this is it". You think it may be something else?

which mapping do you use? there is a different RPM limiter depending on the ride mode, try configuring the custom mode with "sport" limiter to see if that solves your issue

Thanks for the reply, mate. I use the "Sport" mode almost exclusively. I wonder if there is a way to configure further without having to resort to a reflash. If anyone has had a similar experience, I would love to hear from them.

Cheers.

@MarcoM3: First, it would be helpful to know if your bike is an 800 or a 675....

Being in SPORT MODE is one thing, being in CUSTOM MODE with SPORT settings is another.....

It's a 2013 675, as noted in my signature and profile, sorry. And yes, I do keep it in Sports mode, not custom. I am looking for some help, as this is a very educated forum.
Given that, please enlighten me?
