Tuning F4 in midwest U.S.

I'm getting ready to take the plunge on a full bodis exhaust and probably a DNA filter for my 2010 F4. I'll back this up with a microtec ECU. My question is where near the Midwest U. S. could one get this thing tuned? Do you need to have special software to access the ECU? There are bike shops around me that do dyno tuning, but most are Harley shops, and 100% of them have never seen an MV. Any suggestions on who could tune this thing without having to travel 2000 miles round trip? If it helps, I'd like to get my ECU from x-bikes, if that's possible in the states. Maybe I could get one with a good map in it already?

I got a microtec from Chris at X-Bikes. He was very helpful at trying to get it tuned. He loaned me an exhaust sniffing self tuner.
Problem was that I'd have to go ride while trying to use all possible throttle positions/ rpms/loads. Then come back and work on the programming. Then go repeat the process. again and again. One time it wasn't even recording correctly so that whole trip was a waste.
All the while the bike was running lean and getting very hot while I was thrashing it.
I had to call (or be called) by Chris several times and like I said he was very available and very helpful. Problem with that was my phone co charged me a fortune to get calls to/from the UK. Basically you have to become an expert tuner yourself.
Eventually I had to send it back because I just didn't have the time to learn all of this software and keep thrashing my bike all over town.

I have no doubt that Chris himself could have done a great job with it if he had actually been there to do it himself rather than trying to teach me over the phone.

The only one I know of that can do what you need is in Atlanta Ga. I ran a map from Chris on my bike before I got her tuned. She ran good with it. I would get the map from Chris and just run with it until you can find someone to tune it.

So if I had access to a dyno with an exhaust sniffer, I could use that to tune it? How do I access the ECU? Do I need some software to be able to access, and make adjustments to the ECU? Can I download it somewhere, or will it come with the Microtec? I have shops around that do dyno tuning, but I don't know if they need special software, or cables to be able to do the F4?

The Microtec from Chris comes with all the software and cables. If your tuner's any good then he shouldn't have any issues. When I bought mine Chris was willing to talk to the tuner to give him some pointers. He was too far up himself to talk to Chris and basically made things worse. I eventually got it sorted when Chris sent me a map that was pretty good. I'm no expert but I've taught myself enough to tune a map to suit. If you have a laptop and a bit of knowledge the program is pretty comprehensive and easy to use. The laptop talks to the ecu via the supplied CAN/USB cable and you can tweak anything you want.

As for the 'exhaust sniffer' (self tuner) I wouldn't bother. I hired one and you do need an awful lot of time and patience to use it with pretty ordinary results. Save your money for the dyno or some bling. A good map from Chris is a much better starting point. A mate of mine recently bought a Microtec from Chris at XBikes for his 2014 1090 and the maps included were pretty good. I don't think the cost of a dyno tune, even if a decent one were available near here would get much more out of it.
