Newbie Quickshifter Question

Hi y'all,

Last Saturday I picked up a 2011 Brutale 1090RR and I realized later (after riding it and wondering what the hell was going on) that the bike has an SP quickshifter installed. I was reading a bit about these QS and see that the majority are pressure sensitive meaning that when there is minimal pressure applied to the gear lever, the fuel is cut of for some milliseconds and you can seamlessly switch gears without releasing the gas (I know is this oversimplified but I just want to see if I understood it correctly). I also realized that my bike also has a sort or switch on the lever (maybe a toe sensor) and is this then the sensor that cuts the fuel? Since it's only on top, does this mean I can only upshift (they also installed a Reverse sports shaft gear)?

Thanks in advance!
