F3 675 15/44 Gearing 520 chain

Hi guys,

Im looking at shortening the gearing on my F3 675 slightly to give it more punch out of the turns at the track without loosing a ton on top. Im considering going 15 on the front (1 down from stock) and and 1 up on the rear (to 44). To finish it off Id like to go to a 520 pitch chain.

Any advice or comments from those who tried.

My usual track (Redstar in South Africa) is quite tight and I spend most of my time in 2nd and 3rd with a brief stint in 4th. Cant use most of the gears and 2nd to 3rd feels too long with the stock gearing. I do use the bike on the road from time to time too.

Oh yeah, and how many links do I need in the new chain?

I plan to order 112 with an extra rivet link.

Check the performance and on the track sections, quite a few thread on this in the performance section mate.
FWIW, you determine the chain length by deciding on more or less where you want your hub position, measure and cut to suit.

Ok, so order slightly longer than the 112 links ( I read it was 112 links on the internet somewhere).

Count what you have on now, 112 or 118 is norm for most bikes but you still end up cutting and joining.

Thanks! They dont have the 675 , but not too much effort to load the 675 details into the 800 template they have.

15/44=0.3409090909090909

are you going in the right direction? guess not 14/44 = 0.3181818181818182 or 13/43 0.3023255813953488
